It’s easy to dislike salespeople. They call when you’re busy, they can be pushy, they may pressure you. In reality, though, they’re people with a job to do, just like you – and probably an enormous amount of pressure on them to do it quickly, effectively and in large quantities.
A salesperson’s job is never really done. If you can make two sales, why can’t you make two hundred? Keep it going.
There’s a lot of pressure, there are most certainly hard days, bad calls, and sometimes an overwhelming workload. No one wants to hear what they went through, they just want results. Make quota, make more than quota – hell, blow quota away.
Not all are pushy, however, and not all of them pressure you into making a quick decision. Some can help make your job easier, or provide products or services that allow you to be more effective and productive. They may just see it more clearly than you do at the time.
It’s easy to generalize, to stereotype, and to decide you hate them.
Every once in a while, though, you find one that sells you something that changes your life – maybe in a small way, maybe in a huge way. And it’s wonderful
