Anyone who has been on the internet a decent amount of time can remember the days when reading multi-page blog posts was the norm. This was how information was relayed, in long-post formula. There wasn’t a ton of information out there, so you’d take what you could get. In addition, reading a long entry really wasn’t a big deal because you didn’t spend a ton of time on the internet back then anyway.
Times, of course, have changed. Now people spend a whole lot of time online, and there’s a whole lot of information to sift through. No one has time to read a long blog post anymore. Companies have adapted to this change by posting shorter blurbs, putting in bullet points, and even turning to things like streaming video.
Video has an undeniable appeal in that it allows you to engage with your audience in a unique way, and to speak in a voice that works with the image you’re trying to convey. It reaches people immediately and doesn’t need to wait until they have time to read something. They can stream it then and there on whatever device they’re using. Video also allows you to fill your website and your social media channels with high-quality content quickly and efficiently. You are able to address current trends, questions, issues or topics so that your audience is reassured, updated and kept-in-the-loop. You can also post fun things, hype upcoming events or just say hello.
Depending on what your voice is and what your plan is (and a good marketing company can help you get the one that’s right for you), your video plan can be simple or quite complex. Either way, it shows you’re up-to-date on current trends and interested in staying relevant. It shows you have a plan and a presence that’s not stuck in the past. Look at your marketing efforts in this area. Could yours use some improvement? Are you ready to take your business’ image to the next level with streaming video?
